MY COACHING PHILOSOPHY...
No two golfers are the same. Therefore, my goal is to help each individual understand how they are going to become a better putter.
When we look at the technique of the best putters in the world, there are certain principles that are essential, some that are preferable and others that are merely aesthetics. However, they all have exceptional ability to control both direction and distance. Let me help you understand the key principles that will lead to the greatest gains in your technique. Which changes will provide a more 'functional' technique and see greater consistency in execution on the course.
The best putters in the world also vary in their strategy and approach to putting. The techniques they use for green reading, routine, practice regimes, psychology and more, often differ from golfer to golfer. Learn to apply to best approach to your game and start seeing immediate improvements on the golf course.
I am a big believer in using advanced technology in coaching. The data produced enables me to easily determine a golfers strengths and weaknesses and trends regards to their putting technique. This allows me to implement only the necessary changes to improve the weaknesses. Whilst I may have my key principles and preferences when it comes to putting technique, if a golfer shows high level consistency in their data, it is likely unnecessary to make changes in that area. However, no matter the golfer in front of me, I am not afraid to make big changes if I feel they will lead to great improvement in the long run. Using technology also means that all changes will be backed up with improvements in the data. Ultimately, a great technique in one which can effectively control direction and distance consistently.
The adjustable slope green allows me to analyse execution of varying breaks and distances, gaining a greater overall understanding of each golfers processes, biases and inconsistencies. This also allows each session to be extremely specific to each individuals requirements. Technique aside, to be able to putt to a consistently high standard, golfers must have an understanding of how to practice, including drills and techniques. They should be able to interpret slope on the greens, using a green reading technique that allows them to do this the best they best can. They must have a consistent strategy and routine on the golf course, including mental preparation that gives them the best chance of executing the putt successfully. All of the above can be done in a number of ways. Let me help you understand your own putting game and the best path to take towards improving your game on the green.
Group clinics take place on the putting green.. Clinics may have a specific focus or an overall look at the fundamentals of putting, including Set Up, Stroke, Speed Control, Green Reading, Strategy, Practice and more. Each participant will learn techniques of how to improve tailored to their individual needs. Clinics may also be more specific, i.e. speed control, green reading etc. Clinics will include specialist software to aid understanding where appropriate.
If you are a relative beginner, or prefer the less intimidating environment of learning in a group, then a clinic may be the way forward for you. I also am able to host clinics away from my home club of Old Fold Manor. Please get in touch for more information.
